Final!

Image
Sooooooo this is it, the final blog.  The game I want to talk about is Dani's game. I followed this development pretty much when I could and always thought that it was coming along well. I said that I was looking forward to seeing it fully completed. I think a lot of effort has gone into the project and lots of learning and understanding had to be done to pull everything together and tie it all up well to make it work fully. I think everything fit well and worked fully worked. The graphics and textures all fit together and helped create a good look to the world and made it all unite as one. I like that the game fully works and flows together well, its pretty clear where I have to go and what I have to do, this means it isn't frustrating and I don't really have to waste time figuring out what I have to do. I do feel there are a lot of assets brought in, I think it would have been cool to see more of her own art and fully created assets. I think this would have g

project Final

well this is the final day before we show off all our work. If i  am being honest I had a lot of fun writing my story and figuring out twine and hope other can get a little laugh out of my game. I think an important part from this project was planning and time measurement, I think this module has helped me understand these thing a lot more and given me good experience for the rest of college. I am not all 100% happy though. I defiantly didn't get to add all the functions i wanted to into my game as I wanted. I had big plans for a health system and random events. These turned out to be more difficult than once thought. I got close to a health system but had difficulty in coding the changes into each passage. I managed to get a health bar and could manually display the health but I could not have it  auto detect and keep track of itself making it impossible to work correctly. I also wanted random event. These too gave me a run for my money where I didn't even get close to

Project Blog week 12

Project Blog Update!!! This week was an important week for the multimedia project as we had the opportunity to show off the work we have so far and get some feedback on it. I basically had a good amount of my structure for the story and game complete and some story inserted just to give people an idea oh what the story was and how the game work. I think everything went ok and people got the idea of what I was going for. This wee I am hoping to finish the story comply and add in some more branching ark to give the player more opportunities to come back and replay the game.  With this I can start to fully write my story and then work on random events to help with reputability and over all make the game fun and enjoyable to play

Game Design Document Final

Image
After lasts weeks meeting it was decided that using a sequence of events diagram would help greatly in the organisation and layout of the game. In addition to last weeks post i have added a few more things to the document to help aid me in the future development. In the video embedded I have different sections with plans for my Introduction, Story, characters, gameplay and software, game mechanics, audio, resources and a full story ark of events and layout of the overall game. The game Story ark took the majority of my time this week for my work as it was a very important step in the document. This chart clearly lays out the events, options and outcomes for every decision and direction for the game.

Preparing for Academic Writing week 3

Image
Preparing for Academic Writing For week 3 we sat down in class and used an interactive mind mapping software known as coggle. The point of this experiment was to sit down and identify the many categories and steps that go into creating a successful project. An example of how we created this map was by putting down big broad topics and then branching the out to the smaller sections which make up the full project all combined together. This could be the topic of design, as design is a very broad topic we identified much smaller elements that contribute to the end design, Design could span out to many sub-categories such as UI, typography, graphics and story + narrative. The point of this mindmap was to identify all elements that will be involved in the project and break them down further to make sure we have a checklist of elements and give us a good way of including all the relevant factors and not skipping over anything that could contribute to the end goal.  T

Project research

Semester 2 project !! To kick off semester two I have been thinking about about different ideas of projects I can look at. My two primary ideas where a video documentary of me trying different diets such as week 1 and 2 try going vegetarian , week 3 and 4 going low sugar ect. This would contain a full breakdown of a diet plan and a dairy of everything I eat and documenting how I feel along the way. I feel like this would be a fun thing try and for anyone who has ever thought about switching their diet up. My second idea was a visual story using Twine about a coffee shop working who hates his job and documenting a day in his work life. This could be fun as I could you on screen commands and use both visuals and audio to advance the story. It is more likely I go with the second idea as I believe it could be more engaging for people to experience. Link 1  Twine story Link 2  Introduction to Twine Link 3  Helpful tutorials

Learning Challenge- sleep

Image
What would happen if you didn’t sleep? After looking at the selection of videos I decided to watch this video on sleep. I find the brain and the power of sleep to be very interesting. One thing that the video confirmed for me was that you do indeed need sleep !! It was interesting to learn more about the chemical aspect of sleep as in the release of Adenosine and Melatonin, this is something I wasn't too familiar with. I would like to look more into the impact reduced sleep can have on dieting and general health. It would be interesting to see the difference between someone with a good diet and a goo exercise routine with a good sleep pattern vs someone who has a good diet and exercise routine that does not sleep so well. I think the sleeping aspect will play a significant role. The important thing to take away is don't forget to get those 7-8 hours at night!!! image link
