project Final

Image
well this is the final day before we show off all our work. If i  am being honest I had a lot of fun writing my story and figuring out twine and hope other can get a little laugh out of my game. I think an important part from this project was planning and time measurement, I think this module has helped me understand these thing a lot more and given me good experience for the rest of college. I am not all 100% happy though. I defiantly didn't get to add all the functions i wanted to into my game as I wanted. I had big plans for a health system and random events. These turned out to be more difficult than once thought. I got close to a health system but had difficulty in coding the changes into each passage. I managed to get a health bar and could manually display the health but I could not have it  auto detect and keep track of itself making it impossible to work correctly. I also wanted random event. These too gave me a run for my money where I didn't even get close to...

Project Blog week 12

Image
Project Blog Update!!! This week was an important week for the multimedia project as we had the opportunity to show off the work we have so far and get some feedback on it. I basically had a good amount of my structure for the story and game complete and some story inserted just to give people an idea oh what the story was and how the game work. I think everything went ok and people got the idea of what I was going for. This wee I am hoping to finish the story comply and add in some more branching ark to give the player more opportunities to come back and replay the game.  With this I can start to fully write my story and then work on random events to help with reputability and over all make the game fun and enjoyable to play

Project research

Semester 2 project !! To kick off semester two I have been thinking about about different ideas of projects I can look at. My two primary ideas where a video documentary of me trying different diets such as week 1 and 2 try going vegetarian , week 3 and 4 going low sugar ect. This would contain a full breakdown of a diet plan and a dairy of everything I eat and documenting how I feel along the way. I feel like this would be a fun thing try and for anyone who has ever thought about switching their diet up. My second idea was a visual story using Twine about a coffee shop working who hates his job and documenting a day in his work life. This could be fun as I could you on screen commands and use both visuals and audio to advance the story. It is more likely I go with the second idea as I believe it could be more engaging for people to experience. Link 1  Twine story Link 2  Introduction to Twine Link 3  Helpful tutorials

Project Testing

Image
Project testing and progress  So this week I have been really felling the pressure of all the work and trying to budget my time better so I dont fall too far behind. I started last week with some issues with unity crashing and performing very slowly, luckily this was fixed with a simple uninstall and a reinstall. With my newly installed unity I have be trying to catch up on creating my landscape and working on better movement for my character. I have found some great tutorials to help me with more fluid running and to allow for pressure sensitive controls for jumping. The better jumping means I can set platforms and spaces more accurately as I know exactly how the player can reach the platform. All this should allow for a better user experience. I have my first person controller working fine and I have a good chunk of the layout formed. The task at hand is really deciding the best way to  lay everything out to create a challenging and fun level for the player to run...

Updated GDD ( week 6 )

Image
Link to Dundoc This week our project work we have been finalizing and fleshing out our GDD. This has been a very important step in the overall development of our project. The purpose of this was to prepare the tasks I intend on completing and act as a guideline to completing my project. In this GDD I discuss the important elements of the game. I  divided this into different sections such as Characters  Environments  Gameplay/controls  Art design  Sound design UI design  I then disused each element included in these headings in more detail. Such as I discussed how and why the layout of the map design will be and how it will impact the gameplay overall feel of the game. I discuss the importance of each element in enough detail to allow me to refer to the document while working on the game. This will prevent me from missing details and allowing me to keep on track of what I have to do and what exactly it is what I want to do  ...

week 4 Project ( Game Vision Statement)

Image
Vision Statement  Vision Image Genre The genre of game I have decided to work on is a challenging 3D platformer. This will be a game that will be simple at the core but very difficult to complete. In the age we live in now there are more video games being created than ever before, thanks to tools like unity and stream we have access to play just about anything with ease. The 3D platforming genre is no different there are many games under this genre some good and some not.  A good example of inspiring examples I have decided to develop a 3D platformer through this project as I see so many inspiring games and would like to add my own taste and attempt to the list. I love this genre as it can be as basic or advanced as one can make it. Charm and character can also be added either through a linear story or subtly through observations of the landscape, characters, and items.   Gameplay This 3D platformer will aim to be both challenging and...
